I know I'm not alone in these thoughts... this "girlhood" experience. 

Girls are socialized differently. You may resonate with the way I was raised. I was raised to play the role of caretaker, mother, and wife. And even though if my mother was alive, she would swear that's not true, but my experience was often one of raising her. Cooking, cleaning, and being the second mother of "her" household, and often being second mother to her.

That's what it means to be the firstborn daughter. Taught to be fiercely independent, brushing away their needs and caring for everyone around her.
