Lion's Gate + Lughnasadh Ritual: "Calling In the Golden Path"
Lughnasadh: Origins & Meaning
Lughnasadh (pronounced LOO-nah-sah or LOO-nas-ah) is a traditional Celtic festival marking the beginning of the harvest season, celebrated on August 1st or around the first full moon in Leo. It’s one of the eight Sabbats on the Wheel of the Year and sits between Summer Solstice (Litha) and Autumn Equinox (Mabon).
The name comes from the Irish god Lugh, a solar deity known for his many talents: warrior, craftsman, poet, and king, think 8 of pentacles energy, with a side of 3 of pentacles. Lughnasadh means “the gathering of Lugh” and was historically a time of games, feasting, and honoring the earth.
It was also the time when communities would come together to celebrate the first grain harvest, give thanks to the land, and honor those who labor (both human and divine).
Themes of Lughnasadh
Gratitude + abundance
Harvest + reaping what you’ve sown
Sacrifice + transformation
Fertility + fruitfulness
Letting go of what’s no longer needed
Taking stock of progress
Strength, endurance, and perseverance
Harvest Offerings
Giving back to the land or the gods was common, whether fruit, wine, grain, or symbolic sacrifice to honor the cycle of life with regard to death and rebirth.
Reflection & Divination
This is a potent time to ask:
What am I harvesting in my life?
What seeds have grown?
What do I still need to tend to before the final harvest at Mabon?
Reflect in your journal or pull tarot around what you’ve “grown” since spring
Lion's Gate + Lughnasadh Ritual: "Calling In the Golden Path"
Theme: Abundance, Heart Activation, Courage, Divine Timing
You’ll need:
A cinnamon stick or ground cinnamon
A gold or yellow candle
A bowl of water or a fruit offering (like apples or grapes)
A journal and your tarot deck
Ritual Flow:
1. Set the Scene
Create sacred space. Light your gold or yellow candle. Play heart-centered music if you like. Stand tall. Breathe into your chest.
2. Blow Cinnamon Through Your Doorway (Threshold Blessing)
Stand outside your front door. Hold a pinch of ground cinnamon in your right hand and say:
“With this cinnamon, I call abundance in.
I call golden light to begin again.
Let joy, courage, and prosperity flow —
As above, so below.”
Blow the cinnamon into your home. Let the grains land where they will, they act as seeds of intention.
3. Activate the Portal Energy
Place your hand on your heart. Say aloud:
“I walk through this portal with bravery and grace.
I claim the harvest of the work I’ve done.
I welcome love, aligned purpose, and abundance.
So it is.”
4. Offer + Ground
Drop fruit into a bowl or pour water into the earth as a harvest offering. Say thank you to Spirit, Earth, Ancestors, or your Guides.

After the Ritual
Write down everything that came through. You can seal it with a Leo-themed affirmation like:
“I am the lion and the light. I lead from the heart. I trust in my divine becoming.”
Other ways to connect to the golden light and awaken your solar plexus, and ground down into your sacral chakra would be to get creative by making bread, corn dolls or planning a get together with friends and family to honour this time of year.
You can join me during the Lions Gate portal for a Full Moon in Leo Meditation and Reiki cleanse Aug 7th, the day before the Lions Gate Portal’s peak.
